My mother passed away on August 26th. It feels like yesterday and a lifetime ago all at once…
One moment we were vacationing on an island in the Bahamas and the next she was in the hospital. Admitted late on a Wednesday night, and she was gone a few days later.
I was left holding a life that suddenly had a before and an after.
She was my closest friend. My littles' only babysitter. The woman I called for every happy moment, every tragic one, and everything in between. Connecting with her was as automatic as breathing. When she left, the silence was the loudest thing I ever heard.
In the months that followed, I found myself reaching for something tangible. Something real. Something I could hold. The digital world (the one I had built a lucrative career in) felt hollow in a way I had never let myself notice before. Communicating through screens couldn't carry what I needed.
When I started going through my mom's left behind items, A vision began to form. God started speaking to me in a new way. The items that created an outpouring of emotions weren't ones you might immediately think of… in fact, they were simple pieces of paper. Some torn, some frayed, many wrinkled.
It's important to pause and note - my mom wasn't someone that piled up lots of worldly things. Materialistic or high-maintenance were not adjectives that would come close to describing her… What would describe her instead? HEARTCENTERED She made everyone feel SEEN. So it's not a surprise among the few items she kept (those that truly meant something to her) were sweet letters from people she loved.
Something that arrived in a mailbox. Something written by hand, sealed with love, sent with intention. Something my mom would have opened slowly, read twice, and tucked somewhere she could find it again. She was that kind of woman, the kind who showed up for the people she loved in the most tangible, physical, present way.
She didn't text love. She demonstrated it.

A Christian snail mail club is a monthly subscription that delivers physical mail. Letters, postcards and unique paper goods, rooted in Christian faith. The Candlelit Letters is a luxury version. Light and love delivered to your door- shipped globally.
Where do you ship?
Everywhere. US shipping is included in the monthly price. International shipping is a small additional fee added at checkout. Email us if you need help with your international set up.
When will my first letter arrive?
Letters ship in the first week of each month. Subscribe before May 1st and your first letter will be part of the inaugural Mother's Day mailing. Allow 5–7 days for US delivery and up to 3 weeks for international. The anticipation is part of the experience. ;)
